UMR is looking for an experienced Executive Communications Associate to lead communication efforts for our organization. You will be responsible for creating, driving, and managing all internal and external communications while working closely with the Executive team, including the President & CEO. You will create a plan that includes thoughtful and strategic messaging that aligns with our organizational values and mission, among other responsibilities. The ideal candidate will take initiative and have a mixture of content creation experience, research experience, excellent writing and grammar skills, and be well informed and up to date on current events related to our scope of work.

Strategic Planning & Executive Team Liaison

  • Develop external communications plans for the President & CEO that include drafting official statements, talking points, writing speeches, managing social media content, creating public speaking engagement opportunities, and attending advocacy meetings that will increase visibility for the organization
  • Drive the use of the CEO’s leadership voice, internally and externally
  • Work with the Marketing department to ensure smooth collaboration of messaging
  • Work closely with the Programs department to accurately reflect the program data and activities through various media outlets, including our website
  • Lead coordination of media outreach & coverage with media releases, TV/radio interviews, press releases, feature stories, press conferences, etc.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of annual Public Relations plans in consultation with senior management

    Implementation of Executive Comms Plans
  • Research, write, and edit materials, reports, and articles to be published on behalf of senior leadership across multiple channels
  • Prepare various presentations that promote the messaging of the organization
  • Draft proposed content for social media and other relevant channels; work with marketing department team experts to refine content as needed
  • Manage secure and sensitive information appropriately and in compliance with UMR policies
  • Support UMR’s global offices in delivering local public relations programs that are aligned with UMR’s strategy
  • Provide basic guidance and counsel to drive best practice standards across all communications activities
  • Attend events and speaking engagements with executives as needed
  • Analyze communication effectiveness and revise the appropriately planned communication strategies

Qualifications:

  • BA required, advanced degree preferred in marketing, public or media relations, communications, or related field with a minimum of 3 years working experience with an Executive in one or more of these areas
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic preferred
  • Knowledge about current international affairs, with a focus on the MENA and East Africa regions
  • Knowledge or interest in policy work, with the ability to track and regularly analyze communications with policymakers

UMR is looking to hire MENA Regional Director to oversee UMR’s projects and operations in the Middle East, which serves populations in Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Palestine. UMR requires an inspiring leader and shrewd navigator to set the regional vision and steer our future team’s efforts toward ever-improving results for one of the organization’s most complex portfolios. The Regional Director is the lead regional strategist, skilled at contextual analysis and bringing together the highest quality ideas, expertise, and credible evidence to shape and influence the humanitarian and development agenda. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Articulate a compelling vision for the region and help recruit country leaders and support them in setting and implementing a vision and strategy, which is aligned with regional and global organization’s priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for financial and in-kind support for UMR’s main focus programs, such as rehabilitation, food security and health projects.

EXPERIENCE:
  • MA/S or equivalent in international relations, international development, political or social science management or other relevant field.
  • 5 to 8 years’ field experience in senior management, i.e. Country and/or Regional Director including team management experience, finance and administration; donor relations; and inter/intra-agency communications. T
  • Strong preference given to candidates with prior experience in the MENA region. Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
  • Significant program operations experience including direct “hands-on” skills in program development, strategic planning, fundraising, program implementation and evaluation.
  • Extensive experience in managing both emergency and development programs.
  • Experience managing programs in fragile contexts required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the critical development issues in the Middle
  • East and significant experience with the challenges of operating programs in the region.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with US, EU, UN, Private Foundations and other public and private donors, government grant and financial management requirements.
  • Exceptional strategy development, with proven program conceptualization and design skills.
  • Successful and proven negotiation, communication, organization, and prioritization skills and experience.

  • Wide experience in multisectoral, relief efforts and long-term development, interventions.
  • Experience in Livelihood, Food Security, WASH and/or health sectors is highly preferred.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, international relations or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of programs management in INGO sector, preferably in humanitarian and development field.
  • Proven record of managing and delivering successful programs.
  • Proven record of funding projects through grants and other fundraising means.
  • Experience writing proposals for grants.

We are seeking a competent Program Assistant to work from our headquarters office in Washington, DC. The Program Assistant will lead domestic programming and support our international field offices by providing operational and programmatic support. As part of a small team, the Program Assistant will learn about organizing, community and economic development, and nonprofit program management.

Responsibilities:

Programmatic and Logistics Support:

  • Work with international program leads to assist in all aspects of programming including research, outreach, and communications.
  • Work with Operations Manager on domestic program development.
  • Update workforce development materials on a monthly basis.
  • Manage data entry in performance management and contact management database (Salesforce)F14

Communications and Reporting Support:

  • Draft monthly narrative and indicator reports for submission to headquarters.
  • Support director and managers in development and production of program materials such as flyers, brochures, one-pagers, etc.
  • Assist in the drafting of reports to donors.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage program files for the department, including uploading and tagging of documents on online databases and filing hard copies of documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English, written and oral. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:
